Exploring VR Accessibility Challenges and Solutions Through Crowdsourced Insights from Reddit
摘要
Virtual reality (VR) offers transformative potential for immersive interaction but often excludes users with disabilities due to design limitations. This study investigates accessibility challenges and community-driven solutions for disabled users in VR, leveraging a thematic analysis of user-generated posts and comments from Reddit. The findings reveal significant barriers, including the physical inaccessibility of hardware, insufficient sensory and cognitive accommodations, high costs, and limited usability. Despite these challenges, the Reddit community provided practical solutions, such as recommendations for adaptive hardware, seated-friendly applications, alternative input methods, and VR’s therapeutic applications. This work highlights the value of participatory, user-centered approaches in addressing VR accessibility and offers actionable insights for developers, researchers, and designers.
