Obesity is a significant comorbidity in Fibromyalgia (FM), mostly due to dietary changes. A positive correlation between body mass index (BMI), pain severity, and tender points has been noted in numerous studies. Obese FM patients were shown to experience more functional impairment than non-obese FM patients. The impairment is due mostly to obesity-induced exacerbation of the diffuse musculoskeletal pain, although the causal relationship between obesity-induced inactivity in FM patients and increased pain sensitivity remains unproven. What is also well established is that obesity is a risk factor for voice disorders, but its etiologic role in dysphonia in FM patients has not been investigated. Further research is needed to explore the cause-effect relation between obesity and pain in FM patients and their impact on voice.

摘要
