Building Sustainable Careers: Strategies for Retention and Efficiency in Modern Organizations
摘要
This chapter examines the impact of sustainable career practices within organizations, exploring the shift from traditional career paths to more individualized and flexible career models that promote work–life balance and adaptability. These sustainable career practices help employees build meaningful, resilient careers, benefiting both individual growth and organizational stability in an increasingly dynamic labor market. For organizations, the professional development of employees within a company serves as a primary means of achieving its goals, enabling companies to thrive, increasing their efficiency, and achieving long-term sustainability. This chapter presents a literature review of the academic works focused on sustainable careers, extracting from them a catalog of recommendations and strategies to support both employee retention and organizational efficiency. Key recommendations include fostering career development through personalized role customization, autonomy in project management, and structured mentoring programs. Emphasis is placed on the need for organizations to create internal support networks and a culture of flexibility that values results over physical presence. Additionally, this chapter underscores the importance of managing work-related tensions, recognizing nonhierarchical career progress, and ensuring workload balance to prevent burnout.
