The Influence of Design Thinking-Based Learning on Entrepreneurial Intention

Entrepreneurship is a key driver of economic growth and innovation, yet many university graduates remain hesitant to pursue entrepreneurial careers due to risk perception, lack of confidence, and societal preference for conventional career paths. To address this challenge, educational institutions have begun adopting innovative learning approaches such as Design Thinking, a problem-solving methodology that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability. In the Business Management of Telecommunications and Informatics Program at Telkom University, Design Thinking has been integrated into the curriculum to enhance students’ entrepreneurial skills through Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test stages. This study found that Design Thinking-based learning significantly increases students’ entrepreneurial intentions, particularly through the Prototype and Test stages. Future research is recommended to investigate the factors behind the limited impact of Empathize and Ideate stages, as well as the non-significant effect of the Define stage on entrepreneurial intention.
