This article deals with the subject of the tratturi (sheep-tracks) in Molise, and in particular Tratturo Castel di Sangro-Lucera, with a detailed focus on the Campobasso-Torella del Sannio territorial system. Starting from the reconstruction of the historical framework of the tratturi that crossed Molise, the article presents a mapping of the officially recognised cultural heritage located in the area between Campobasso and Torella del Sannio. This mapping has been carried out by means of archival research in open access digital archives, such as the database of the Central Institute for Cataloguing and Documentation, with a particular focus on the General Catalogue of the Cultural Heritage. This archival research reveals a rich cultural heritage that is often little known and undervalued, even by the local communities themselves. The aim of this paper is therefore to highlight this heritage in order to raise awareness of it as a first step towards its future valorisation.
