This study assessed the concept of Yoruba Jegudujera narratives and the Nigerian style of corrupt journalistic practice. This study was designed to know the concept of Jegudujera in journalistic parlance, and to also ascertain various factors that promote the concept in the journalistic profession in Nigeria. The researchers made use of focus group discussion (FGD) as the research design. Researchers adopted focus group discussion because few journalists are accessible for the participation in the study at the time of the study. From 6 to 12 participants were interviewed simultaneously, with a researcher leading the participants or respondents in a relatively unstructured discussion about the subject-matter of investigation. Findings showed that the concept of Jegudujera in journalism denotes biased, greedy and corrupt form of journalistic practice. Findings also showed that socio-political, economic and cultural factors have contributed immensely to the promotion of the Jegudujera issues among practising journalists in Nigeria. The study, however, recommended that reinvention of audience-focused journalistic practice and watchdog or monitorial roles of journalists in society should be reinvigorated for optimum journalistic performances. Government should hands-off the funding, management and operations of media organisations in Nigeria. Civil Society Organisations should be empowered to manage and fund the media organisations in Nigeria to restore the lost credibility, integrity and nobility of the journalistic profession. The more the media are purged of and liberated from internal and external corrupt practices, the more acts of corruption are exposed and curbed by practicing journalists in Nigeria.
