Comparative Study on the Physical Fitness Test of College Students Between China and Malaysia Culture
摘要
The purpose of this study is to describe and compare the physical fitness tests of Chinese and Malaysian university basketball players. The study involved 60 male participants divided into two groups: 30 basketball players from the Sports College of Zhengzhou University of Technology (ZUT) in China and 30 university-level basketball players from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), all aged between 19–24 years. The physical fitness tests were evaluated using three variables: agility, power, and balance. The mean, central parameters, and dispersion parameters for all variables were calculated. t-test for agility and power, Mann-Whitney U for balance, were used to determine the differences in physical fitness tests between ZUT and UTM basketball players. The results showed that ZUT players performed significantly better in agility tests than UTM players (t = −9.31, p = 0.000), and ZUT players also outperformed UTM players in power tests (t = −3.99, p = 0.000). Additionally, ZUT players demonstrated a significant advantage in balance tests (Mann-Whitney U = 281.00, p = 0.012), with the average balance test time being significantly higher for the ZUT group compared to the UTM group. These findings may help coaches understand the significant physical fitness differences between the two countries and develop more targeted training programs.
