In this list, I have compiled all “geographical societies” founded between 1821 (founding of the first, in Paris) and the end of World War II in August 1945. They are ordered chronologically by year of founding and, if that year is the same, alphabetically by the English name of their city. The societies’ official names and their possible changes are given in the societies’ languages, but always in Latin script. The societies’ (main) periodicals, if they published any, are likewise named in the original languages.
