In this chapter, I have given ten cases suffering from dementia seen at home or in geriatric wards of a general hospital. I have discussed the important clinical features which help the trainee in coming to a diagnostic conclusion, more so in a setting of depression or psychosis or when their ability to report is limited by aphasia or other cognitive impairment. I have explained ways in which functional impairments can be improved upon by environmental or behavioural intervention, the role of drugs for behaviour disturbance, the acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and other antidementia drugs. I have also described the varieties of pseudo-dementia.
