Do we want to meet deadlines? Most probably, yes. Several of Christel Baier’s celebrated scientific contributions are concerned with verifying time-bounded reachability queries on continuous-time Markov models. The central question is to compute the (extremal) probability to meet the deadline. This note provides a historical perspective on Christel’s contributions and addresses the (practical and theoretical) relevance of these results.
