Gamified Stroke Rehabilitation Exercises to Accelerate Functional Recovery in Post Stroke Survivors
摘要
Stroke remains a leading cause of physical disability worldwide, significantly impacting the quality of life and independency of survivors. Upper limb weakness post stroke is a prevalent issue, affecting daily activities such as grooming and eating. Traditional rehabilitation methods are often monotonous and prolonged, leading to reduced patient motivation and adherence. Gamified rehabilitation offers a promising solution by integrating engaging and interactive video games into therapy. This study explores Kinect-based video games in enhancing upper limb function in stroke survivors. Four games—Bird Dodge, Hit Catch, Burst, and Veggie Pick—were developed using Microsoft Kinect and Unity 3D, targeting specific motor skills through repetitive, task-based activities. These games aim to improve muscle activation, coordination, and joint flexibility while maintaining patient engagement. This research underscores the potential of gamified rehabilitation to accelerate functional recovery in post-stroke survivors, promoting greater independence and quality of life.
