Water management is a critical factor for modern agriculture. Taking into account multiple challenges that may also affect environmental and societal implications, the European Union has promoted various measures and policies, in the view of assuring water adequacy, especially within the context of its Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). As a complimentary option, the potential inclusion of modern ICTs in the farming vertical allows for multiple innovations, also affecting smart water management and saving. IoT and wireless sensor networks, when combined with B5G/6G evolutionary processes may revolutionize the way how water can be used for such purposes. Our work discusses the wider framework and also presents a much promising example for smart water saving, from the framework of the on-going 6G-PATH EU-funded project, corresponding to a special use case that is analysed as of its intended goals, scenarios of use, key technological components and proposed KPIs/KVIs.

摘要
