Introduction to Vehicle Testing for Subjective and Objective Evaluation in Vehicle Dynamics
摘要
Vehicle testing is a vital aspect of automotive engineering, ensuring that vehicles adhere to safety, performance, and regulatory standards. It encompasses a wide range of evaluations, from assessing the vehicle's dynamics and handling to ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Understanding the complexities of vehicle testing is essential for engineers and researchers who aim to innovate and improve vehicle design, functionality, safety and sustainability. The growing trend of adopting driver assistance systems and automated driving, which have been developed to a high standard over many years, is inherently related to the vehicle's role in transporting people, whether they are drivers or passengers. Various tests, both subjective and objective, assess vehicle behavior, focusing on aspects like handling stability and ride quality. Advanced simulation tools and driving simulators are now essential for managing complexity and reducing development time. Ultimately, effective vehicle testing combines subjective feedback from drivers with objective data, ensuring that vehicles meet the evolving demands of safety, performance, and comfort in a rapidly changing automotive landscape. The aim of this contribution is to provide the colleagues who are beginning their work in this field (whether academic researcher or application engineer) with an introduction to vehicle testing for subjective and objective evaluation in vehicle dynamics.
