Whose Metaverse?
摘要
In the conclusion to this book, we underscore our reformulation of the term ‘metaverse’ as a process of metaversification and discuss its implications for spatiality and corporeality. We subsequently reflect on the specific nature of the various companies involved in this process and on the importance of developing alternative narratives that might counter or even subvert hegemonic visions of the metaverse. We also discuss the reality of infrastructures in terms of their material requirements and raise critical questions about the corporate and privatized visions of the metaverse with a specific focus on the ways in which it should be considered a communal and public good.
