This chapter shall be divided into two, corresponding with consecutive periods: “The Institutionalisation of Neoliberalism under AKP Single-Party Rule” and “The Institutionalisation of AKP Single-Party Rule under the Crises in Neoliberalism”, the latter as the party struggled to both manage those crises and maintain its own power. Rather than delving directly into a deeper analysis of the periods of AKP rule, a panoramic data set that follows presents a naked view of how the AKP regime – which today looks like a third nationalist front [1] government—formed its alliance within parliament in the context of state–society–economy relations. Presenting this in two subchapters is not to suggest that there is an absolute separation between the periods of AKP rule. On the contrary, this book treats the institutionalisation of neoliberalism during the AKP governments as a continuity. [1] For a detailed study on the nationalist front governments, see Özdinç 2013.
