Cap and Trade System in Agroforestry: A Way to Help Farmers to Mitigate Climate Change Risk

This study explores the use of cap and trade to address climate change vulnerabilities for agroforestry (AF) farmers. AF, which combines tree and crop cultivation, combats climate change by capturing carbon (C), preserving biodiversity, and promoting sustainable land management. By incentivizing AF adoption, farmers can adapt to climate challenges and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The investigation examines the benefits of combining cap and trade with AF, including advantages for farmers, ecosystems, and the global climate agenda. It also considers alignment with the commitments made at the Kyoto Conference. However, careful planning is required before implementation, including stakeholder involvement, policy development, and monitoring. In conclusion, integrating cap and trade into AF programs can effectively address climate risks and promote sustainability in agriculture and rural areas.
