Energy transition (ET) refers to technological developments toward mowing renewable energy from fossil fuels. ET would dramatically decrease fossil fuel’s share globally with a shift that not only reduces carbon emissions but designs an energy system that supports a resilient and sustainable global energy supply. ET requires the creation of innovative and energy efficient technologies before the results are widely available in other regions. Besides the technological advances, the ET requires policy, regulations, business models, and public experience with actual deployment. An array of technological capabilities can accelerate transition to clean-energy sourcing and allocation enabled by smart-grid networks and software-enabled renewable energy-storage systems to optimize supply and demand forecasting.
