Water is recognized as a fundamental human right critical to sustaining life. In cities, the significance of water cannot be underestimated due to the increasing demand for water among different stakeholders. These stakeholders call for sound urban water governance, which enables sustainable allocation, access, and utilization of water among urbanites. However, the postcolonial urban context is marred by multiple issues compromising effective urban water governance. This introductory chapter thus sets the tone for the book and provides the background and context of urban water governance in postcolonial Zimbabwe. In the chapter, the introduction is presented, followed by the key arguments guiding the book, the aim and objectives and, lastly, the structure of the book.
