CT-guided procedures can be used either in addition to or as an alternative to the conventional methods of pain therapy. They are usually performed on an outpatient basis. CT guidance allows a step-by-step control of the procedure and is much safer and reliable than fluoroscopy-guided or clinically guided techniques using anatomical landmarks for target planning. Radiologists should get skilled in the field of interventional radiology aimed at pain therapy.
