This final chapter summarizes the key contributions from Leipzig for political analyses of urban restructuring and discusses potential future developments here on the spot. I begin by highlighting once more the successes and shortcomings of local housing activism, focusing on the limits of regulatory politics in the absence of a strong tenant movement. Subsequently, I come back to my analysis of tenant decomposition and the constraints to tenant power in Leipzig. Alienated from one another and lacking a shared sense of belonging in the wake of their divergent experiences of uneven development, tenants hardly develop collective strategies of appropriation. After this depressing review, I shed some light on recent developments in the city that should encourage further analyses of different institutions and their strategies against tenant decomposition, like a tenant initiative and a renewing left party.
