In this section, we present an overview of Coastal wetlands and their ten subtypes. Consequently, we present the ecological and economic significance of these sites in association with their role in mitigating the impacts of climate change. The study presents the regional biodiversity, water quality, land cover patterns, and wetland health for all sixteen coastal Ramsar sites. It is observed that Pallikaranai Marsh Reserve Forest has the lowest wetland health score of 44.44%. However, Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary and Bhitarkanika Mangroves observed maximum eutrophicated and turbidity areas of 89.28 and 42.57%, respectively. The impact of human activities through pollution, land reclamation, and coastal development was assessed by comparing national site management with Ramsar and Global standards. Lastly, the study presents innovative technology integration to enhance the efficiency of coastal wetland site management.
