Design the Assessment in the University Classroom: Insights to Transform Assessment Practice
摘要
This chapter explores contemporary challenges and transformative approaches to assessment in higher education. It questions traditional practices focused solely on numerical grading and advocates for evaluation as an integral, continuous, and formative part of the learning process. Through ten key insights, the chapter presents innovative and ethical strategies that promote authentic, student-centered, and process-oriented evaluation. It emphasizes the importance of aligning assessment with learning objectives, using clear performance criteria, integrating technology meaningfully, and fostering student self-regulation. Moreover, it highlights that assessment must be fair, transparent, and rooted in pedagogical values rather than arbitrary judgments. By reshaping how learning is evaluated, educational innovation can be fully realized, ensuring that assessment supports meaningful, equitable, and lifelong learning.
