Effective Field Method for Composites with Cracks and Thin Soft Inclusions

The effective field method is applied to solution of the homogenization problem for a media with random sets of thin soft ellipsoidal inclusions or elliptical cracks. Specific features of application of the method for cracked media are indicated and discussed. Elliptical cracks of various orientations in 3D and 2D elastic media are considered. The predictions of the method are compared with experimental data and exact solutions for regular crack systems in 2D case.
