National initiatives in Slovakia are based on the European cluster initiative ECCP, but adapt local circumstances into a fitting vision of smart city initiatives to develop infrastructure, connectivity and participation aspects for future regions. The Slovak Smart City Cluster (SSCC) plays a central role in promoting and implementing smart city concepts in Slovakia. It integrates representatives from business, technology, public administration and academia to drive innovation in areas such as data processing, sustainable energy sources and the sharing economy. The SSCC organizes regular meetings, workshops and events to promote exchange of experiences and develop standards for smart cities.
