Through a loose narrative, the Author reconstructs the history of the Insubric International Centre, which preserves the Archival and Library memory of the Milan School. The Centre currently preserves some thirty philosophical Archives, together with seven Author Libraries. By the work and thought of Piero Martinetti and Antonio Banfi, through to Banfi’s great pupils of the 1930s—Enzo Paci, Remo Cantoni, Giulio Preti and Dino Formaggio—the Milan School took on a breadth that is unique in the cultural landscape of the twentieth century. This school was not just philosophical, because it also included poets such as Antonia Pozzi, Vittorio Sereni and Daria Menicanti, musicologists, educationists, intellectuals, and filmmakers. Today, the legacy of this school constitutes a research programme with a rationalist-critical and phenomenological framework that still displays notable critical relevance.
