Beyond the First Visit: The Impact of Cultural Attractions and Novelty-Seeking on Revisit Intentions in Cultural Tourism
摘要
Cultural tourism is an important source of support for small local economies, but also a way to preserve cultural heritage. This research dwells on examining the effect of the diversity of cultural attractions and novelty seeking tendencies on tourists’ intentions to revisit Nias Island in North Sumatera, Indonesia. A quantitative survey was conducted with 375 tourists who had visited multiple cultural tourism sites across the island. This study found that culture and novelty seeking behavior were critical factors in tourists’ intention to revisit. This finding will focus more attention of tourism stakeholders towards the improvement of cultural attributes along with offering novel, unique and creative experiences according to tourists’ expectations and encouraging revisiting. Future research is also highlighted in this paper.
