Why do we care? Why do we care about what the state funds and how it does so? This final chapter interrogates the concept of the commodification of space of state and of culture from a perspective of power dynamics. It flags how an LPE approach to cultural policy promises a useful and insightful way forward to interrogate the role of the state and its legislative power towards the arts and cultural sector. It highlights how the screen arts, including film and digital games, challenge preconceived notions of the role of culture in society. It points to future directions of research which could focus on other funding forms through a similar method of policy analysis, but particularly on constitutive role of state and the opacity of policymaking process.
