Depending on familiarity of the person with the language it interacts the amount of extracted information will differ considerably as a result of this interaction be it a book, movie, manuscript or a regular conversation. Ability of extracting relations from text is highly important for further advancements in AI conceptualization capabilities, so problem of relation extraction is vital for advancements in this line of research. Distant Supervision Learning paradigm allowed for achieving new milestones in the field. Joint entity and relation extraction - an approach that introduced many advancement in recent years will be highlighted in this survey. We will discuss the reasoning behind popularity of this approach, cover datasets used in this approach for model evaluations and methods used in approach implementations. In conclusion, we will discuss current state of the problem, progress made in recent years, and issues in the field.
