This chapter deals with the hydraulic and structural design aspects of various types of diversion structures which are used in a run-of-river project. The structures whose design details are included in this chapter are (i) raised crest weirs of boulder, concrete and bamboo (ii) Conda weir, (iii) rubber dams, (iv) trench weirs and (v) barrages. It also includes an example of hydraulic design of trench weir. The hydraulic and structural design projects and procedures of various components such as water way, floor, divide wall and piers of a barrage are also described.
