摘要

Technological evolution has enabled large-scale production; however, it has also led to the unrestricted use of raw materials from natural sources. This growing and unstructured industrialization and urbanization have impacted consumption patterns and administrative practices. This context has driven sustainability, which is a broader concept applicable to society and the planet as a whole, whereas ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) is more specific to companies and their stakeholders. Sustainability is the ultimate goal that ESG seeks to achieve through responsible and sustainable business practices. Higher education institutions play a fundamental role in sustainable development and in advancing knowledge about sustainability, as they train professionals and generate scientific knowledge. Thus, the objective of this study is to understand the role of stakeholders in consolidating an ESG culture within a Higher Education Institution (HEI). This research is a qualitative, descriptive case study. The influence of organizational culture on the adoption of ESG practices in a Brazilian university was verified. The power and influence matrix of the stakeholders involved in the ESG process was determined. The impacts on the quality of life in the territory are significant, and stakeholder involvement presents positive externalities.
