Proposal of an Instrument for Measuring Sustainability at Federal University of Itajubá—UNIFEI
摘要
Sustainable development is an important subject, increasingly addressed within a context where economic and environmental balance are supportive of each other. It is the role of the university to address sustainability in the formation of individuals. Additionally, it is required for the university to have means to fulfill sustainable duties throughout the institutional management. This work aims to propose an instrument capable of measuring sustainability within the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI). A review of scientific literature on sustainability indicators was conducted to select those most suitable for UNIFEI. Subsequently, these indicators were grouped and interpreted, and they were validated with instruments already used by the university and between employees. By combining these methods, it was possible to propose a set of indicators adapted to UNIFEI. In total, 107 indicators were proposed, grouped into 14 categories that measured aspects such as energy, water, and waste. Additionally, economic, social, and well-being indicators were included. It is hoped that with this instrument, there will be a transformation of the institution, taking into consideration that natural resources are finite and that the public university has the power to transform the community around it.
