University Contribution to SDGs: A Case Study at Midwestern State University (UNICENTRO)
摘要
Discussions on Sustainable Development (SD) and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been intense and ongoing. Universities, particularly public ones, play a crucial role in this process due to their institutional missions of raising awareness, generating, applying, and disseminating knowledge. This research aims to identify the extent to which actions in the teaching, research, outreach, and management areas at Midwestern State University (UNICENTRO) align with the SDGs, and to assess the level of integration of these Goals within those actions. The study adopts a documentary investigation of an exploratory-descriptive nature, formatted as a case study. The results indicate that while the integration of SDGs into teaching activities is in its early stages, there is significant engagement in other areas. Management shows a substantial commitment to strengthening and implementing initiatives outlined in the Institutional Development Plan (IDP). The primary contributions are made through research and outreach projects, which predominantly address SDGs 4, 3, 10, and 8, as well as through university management. By providing an institutional overview, this study can serve as a reference for improving the development and implementation of the SDGs at UNICENTRO and other universities, and it also offers insights for new investigations and actions on this topic.
