Creative Practices in Vintage Retailing
摘要
In this chapter I take the reader on a journey into the world of vintage retailing to delve into the significance and value of exploring the forms of consumer and collective creativity which emerge therein. To do so, I make use of anthropological insights and post-structural ways of thinking to mobilise key concepts to illustrate the creative qualities embedded within vintage consumption. Choosing this frame of analysis is a deliberate tactic to see value in ethnographic writing and ways of thinking and sensing the everyday. In this manner, I mobilise insights around retail becoming to make explicit the links to creative practices, creative consumption and creative selves. Likewise, I utilise notions of freedom and gift-like experiences to cast a theoretical spotlight on the forms of emergence and becoming which make up this performance of buying and selling.
