Healthcare-Related Infections (HAIs) continue to be a significant public health challenge, with high associated mortality rates, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO). Therefore, this experience report describes the development and implementation of the Technological Extension Project (TEP) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a cardiology center in Brazil, the Pronto-Socorro Cardiológico de Pernambuco (PROCAPE). The project focused on the introduction of Higienize Senfio, a solution based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Computer Vision to monitor the hand hygiene behavior of healthcare professionals. The four-month trial period included one month of training in the technologies and three months of practice in the ICU, covering the installation of the equipment, the registration of professionals and the identification and resolution of opportunities for improvement. This report provides a detailed overview of the integration of these technologies into the hospital environment, highlighting the challenges faced, the relevant findings, and the prospects for future improvements and contributions to the fight against HAIs and the development of human resources.
