Development of Henequen Woven Fiber Composite Material on LDPE Matrix
摘要
Production of laminates made of woven henequen fiber composite materials is presented, using a hot-pressing technique with a thermoplastic polymer matrix. Behavior of woven fibers in the laminate production process is evaluated. Resulting composite material exhibits improved strength and stiffness properties on different directions, achieving a strength of approximately 21 MPa on the main direction and around 12 MPa at a 45°-angle direction. These results were achieved by incorporating only 20% by weight of henequen fiber. A comparison of the material's mechanical behavior and properties is shown in relation to other materials composed by using fibers from same plant. The processes for obtaining the fabrics and the experimental setup for laminate production are also described.
