While the world's population is increasing rapidly, we are also faced with the negative effects of climate change. Meeting the increasing food needs in parallel with population growth is directly related to agricultural production and management of natural resources that provide input to production. Water is one of the most important natural resources for life, and it is indispensable for agriculture. However, negative impacts such as environmental pollution, drought, excessive precipitation and thus floods limit the use of water. In order to achieve the desired level of production and efficiency in agriculture, the amount of water required for the growth of crops, if cannot be met by precipitation, should be given to the root zone in a controlled manner, which is called irrigation. Research in the past revealed that water is used more than necessary for agricultural irrigation worldwide. In order not to waste water, an appropriate agricultural water management system should be applied according to climate, soil, topographic and crop conditions. In this study, a situation assessment has been made for some prominent countries’ agricultural production, and suggestions are presented regarding proper agricultural water management there.

摘要
