This paper discusses the ambient vibration tests conducted on an existing reinforced concrete school building located in the northern part of Mexico in Tijuana, Baja California State. The building has the typical configuration and geometry of schools in the region. The ambient vibration tests were conducted to evaluate the actual behavior of the building, including the contribution of non-structural components (external and internal infill walls), natural frequencies, and mode shapes. Nonlinear dynamic analyses were conducted using the analytical model to obtain the response under historical ground motions. Vulnerability curves were then used to determine the probability of damage in structural and non-structural components and, therefore, the overall performance under the imposed scenarios.
