Concrete bridges are essential part of transportation. However, most of the bridges were built in the early 2000s and require regular maintenance. Traditional methods of bridge inspections were slow, expensive and also unsafe for the bridge inspectors. This project focuses on developing an innovative drone based inspection system which will be relatively faster safer and accurate. The drones would be equipped with HD cameras and the process of inspection would be automated from the start to the end by using waypoints to draw the flight path and with the help of AI to detect defects such as different types of cracks and nature of the crack. By using drones, we can achieve lower costs, better accuracy and safe inspection off the bridges. This innovative technology offers a smart way to preserve the bridges in good shape for the future simultaneously reducing the limitations of manual inspection.
