The multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) has become ubiquitous in the United States and around the world. To date, every U.S. state describes organizing academic, social-emotional-behavioral (SEB), or both domains of support within an MTSS framework to enhance implementation of evidence-based practices and improve student outcomes (Integrated MTSS Research Network, 2024a). Despite their current prevalence, MTSS frameworks are relatively new in the field of education. In this chapter, the importance of prioritizing prevention, the history of prevention frameworks, critical features of prevention frameworks in education, and current and future directions of prevention frameworks in research and practice are described.

摘要
