In this paper, we propose an Adaptive Anti-packet Recovery (AAR) method for Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) for multiple disaster scenarios. AAR enhances message overhead and reduces storage usage in vehicular communication networks by adaptively performing message recovery based on message status and environmental context. We conduct evaluations using a network simulator to measure message delay, overhead and delivery ratio. The simulations are conducted under multiple real road conditions, and the proposed method is compared with Epidemic routing. The evaluation results indicate that AAR improved network performance. Moreover, the study highlights the potential of AAR as a lightweight and adaptable solution for resilient communication in delay-tolerant vehicular networks, particularly under conditions prone to disruption such as natural disasters.
