Over the past few years, substantial progress has been made in the development of biomaterials for a range of uses, spanning from veterinary to human health. They find applications in the areas of wound management, tissue regeneration and therapeutic delivery systems. The amount of research and explorations on biomaterials have surged significantly. Biodegradable polymers are promising candidates which find extensive applications in the field of biomaterials. A scaffold is of pivotal role as it is important in the regeneration of the dermis layer of the skin. Elements like Fibrinogen, Silk Fibroin, and Hyaluronic acid are instrumental in the fabrication of Scaffolds. Polymers like Chitin, Cellulose, Polylactic acid, Poly(ε-caprolactone) and certain polymers extracted from bacteria hold significant potential as biomaterials. In addition to tissue engineering, they serve as drug carriers in pharmaceutical delivery systems. This chapter illustrates the applicative potential of such biomaterials in Veterinary medicine. Although, extensive research is imperative for the ultimate usage of such materials, they yet prove to be of paramount importance in Veterinary medicine.
