The increasing focus on the quality and efficiency of services provided by public corporations and issues related to their governance and financing has placed them at the center of economic assessments by policy makers and scholars. For more than a decade, within the Statistical Business Register, publishes statistics on public enterprises, especially in light of the new regulatory framework that has planned an extraordinary revision plan and a consequent rationalization (Legislative Decree No. 175 of Aug. 19, 2016, known as the Consolidated Act on Publicly Owned Companies). This paper provides an overview of the presence of public corporations per territory in the energy market showing the performance in terms of labour productivity among the Italian macro area (Norht-East, North-West, Centre, South).
