Unmasking Greenwashing: Transitioning from Carbon Offsets to Emission Reductions to Mitigate Brand Greenwashing in the European Union
摘要
Carbon credits and offsetting schemes have emerged as popular tools for tackling climate change. However, the effectiveness of these mechanisms remains a subject of debate. On the one hand, there are companies that use carbon credits instead of reducing their own carbon footprint. On the other hand, offsetting can be an important tool to compensate for emissions that the company cannot reduce. The aim of the article is to show the approach to carbon neutrality and offsetting of selected European brands and give suggestions on how companies should best set their carbon strategies.
