Perinatal Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Sleep Pathology
摘要
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a highly prevalent psychiatric condition among women of reproductive age. However, despite its high prevalence within this group, little research has been done on the management of PTSD within perinatal populations. This has left clinicians with little guidance to follow when managing this often-complex condition. To date, there are no widely accepted clinical guidelines available for the management of perinatal PTSD. In this chapter, we will discuss the existing literature on the psychotherapeutic and pharmacological management of PTSD, as well as additional factors that must be given consideration when managing this condition within pregnancy and the postpartum period. We will also discuss the management of insomnia within perinatal PTSD.
