Research and Development Dynamics in Functional Materials: A Comparison Case Study of Compound Semiconductor Technology Through Network Analysis
摘要
This study aims to qualitatively and quantitatively explore the R&D and business development activities of functional chemical manufacturers specializing in semiconductor materials, with a focus on gallium nitride (GaN) power devices. By employing time-dependent patent network analysis, the research investigates the correlation between business growth, continuous innovation, and temporal changes in network structures. Data analysis of patent records from 1970 to 2022 identified two power-law distributions in centrality measures, revealing significant insights into the evolution of research networks and their implications for market dynamics. These findings provide a foundation for understanding the strategic development of GaN power devices and their role in achieving carbon neutrality.
