Simple congenital heart disease is not an uncommon presentation in general cardiology service. While some patients may present with simple patent foramen vale others may present with more complex anomalies, for example, congenitally corrected transposition of great arteries. Echocardiography plays a crucial role in identifying such anomalies early on in life, so allows for optimum follow-up of patients and timely identification of the need for interventional treatment in an attempt to protect overall cardiac function deterioration and improve survival.
