The loss of a significant portion of the intestine severely limits nutrient and fluid absorption, causing dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and potential disruptions to metabolic processes. These imbalances can complicate patient management, hinder recovery, and increase the risk of severe complications such as kidney failure and malnutrition. Properly addressing these physiological challenges is essential to improving patient outcomes and minimizing long-term health consequences.
