The length of the resection, the anatomical part of the remaining intestine with the consequent loss of site-specific transport processes and of site-specific gastrointestinal hormones producing cells, are associated with a large spectrum of nutritional deficiencies. A concise review of the pathophysiology of SBS is provided.
