The article begins with a brief historical overview of the political and educational situation of former Polish citizens in 1772–1914. This is followed by the wide overview of Poles who studied with Klein, mostly in Göttingen and their future fates. The closing section deals with two initiatives Poradnik dla samouków and On the needs of Polish mathematics strongly influenced by former Klein’s Polish students fascinated by his visions.
