Women empowerment is a vital determinant of improved nutritional indicators, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Rooted in the ability to make strategic life choices, empowered women demonstrate a profound influence on household and community nutrition. The literature highlights a direct correlation between women’s empowerment and better nutrition, with decision-making, economic autonomy, and education being pivotal factors. Women have played a central role in food production and distribution historically and hence, when empowered, can more effectively allocate resources toward nutrient-rich foods and health care. Their elevated role in household decision-making, coupled with educational insights, drives healthier food choices, underlining the significance of supporting women’s empowerment as a strategy for combating malnutrition for themselves and their families. Therefore, prioritizing initiatives that bolster women’s status and abilities, from tailored education programs to economic opportunities, is essential to enhance nutritional outcomes in LMICs.
